Value of Accreditation

Your online degree may not be accepted on equal terms by all employers, says Distance Learn, unless it is accredited by the concerned regional agency. But there is hope for a few others as well. If your course has been accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council, most organizations will consider it on par with a traditional degree. A degree from an institution that is accredited by a professional organization will be recognized by those in that particular profession. For example, a library study program approved by the American Library Association is enough to gain employment as a librarian. But if your institution is accredited by any other agency, or is not accredited at all, then you have to work hard at proving that your knowledge is the same as that of others from accredited colleges.
