Cooking Up a Storm!

Aspiring to become the sous chef at a fancy restaurant? You can determine if you have what it takes to climb to the top of the ladder in the food handling industry by taking the BBC’s online culinary course __ MasterChef Online. The course comprises two levels that cover the basics of food hygiene, food deliveries and stock rotation, knife handling and safety, food purchasing and budgeting, and patisserie and presentation techniques. The program is designed by BBC Food, with assistance from other professional bodies like the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), The Food Standards Agency (FSA), and the Westminster Kingsway College’s Hospitality and Catering division. The BBC website describes the course as a "taster" to increase awareness and test one’s knowledge of food safety and cooking skills.
